Hey all,
Look what I found at my doorstep yesterday.

And when I emptied the boxes.

And I would like to introduce the first addition to Maddawgs Distillery "Tasha Lee". She is a beautiful piece of art (Thanks to Rick and his crew at BH)

Nice! What are you using for heat?

Just a recommendation: don't rush things with you first wash. Relax, take your time, and avoid short-cuts ... and get yourself a log book ... it'll come in handy down the road.

Hi JB,
I'll be using two 2000 watt elements. I'll use both for quick heat up. Then turn one off and control the other with an rsc. Yes I plan on taking it slow and steady. Already have the log book. This weekend will be cleaning and sacrificial runs, plus get two 6 gallon washes going for a 12 gallon run before xmas.

Thanks Shovelhead,
I've been like a little kid since I ordered it, pretty exciting. I named her after one of our Maddawgs, a beautiful shelti that passed several years ago

I love the pats on the back, but unfortunately they really belong to our welder. But I will pass that 'pat' along. :)

Man am I jealous of set-up... when I get my funds together that's what I've decided to go with. I'll just keep on reading and learning until then. did you get any other mod's besides the NTP fittings in the boiler?

Hi cap,
No other mods. I was going to do the same thing Bayou Ruler had with his mods to the top bung area of the column but after more research found it was not really needed. One mod I would like is a sight glass port near the top of the boiler just so you could see the mix coming to a boil.

Hi BDB,
Congrats 94% is pretty good. What size kettle are you using and how long did your run take. I'll be starting my first ferment (two 6 gallon buckets) on Christmas Eve day and my first run on New Years Eve day.

Any issues fitting the heating elements which uses the NPSM threads with the NTP coupler?
