I am using rye that I got from a feed store. It has been to my attention that using rye can be hazardous. I am referring to ergot. Does anyone have any experience with rye. I guess what I am asking is grain which is infected easily detectable or how big of risk is this? Thanks Jim

i think the hazard you are refering to is when trying to malt rye. needs to be done a certain way. i dont use a lot of rye but do throw in a pound or so to make a nice cap for fermentation
