To Anonymous: Deer blood, eh? Did you read that in a forward? Is Microsoft going to send you a check for $15,000 when you get done forwarding that message to 7 people in 10 minutes?

To Brian: I don't know of any home recipes for it since it uses 56 different herbs, I doubt it's easy... however, Prestige Hunters Schnapps will get you the taste you desire.

Thanks Jonny! I will give that a try and let you know the outcome. If all else fails I will kill a deer and add some blood. UserPostedImage

Why not just shorten the process and stick your fingers down your throat? ;,

Jonny, I will say the aroma is close using the hunters schnapps. I have not tasted it yet. I want it to mature a little before I sample.

Heraldo, I have given much thought in on trying to solve the 56 fruits and spices. I would imagine a similar recipe is around somewhere, just not called the same. If I come across something I will surely post here.

Lamp, I have had some bad tasting stuff that made me want to stick my finger down my throat, Jager was not one of them. I will agree it is an acquired taste and not for the faint of heart. As the saying goes 'if you can't run with the big dogs stay on the porch'.

"i copied this from a different forum this guy made a similar liquer and figured id share it even tho not exact i havent tried it but heres the whole post

""I too tried to make some Jagermeister and came up with a possible clone. I think to get the exact flavor is a dream but this was good and my wife and I seem to acquired a taste for it more than the real stuff. So here we go......

1 cup dark brown sugar
3 Tbs vanilla extract
1 Tbs root beer extract
1 tsp anise extract
1/8 orange extract
2 Tbs bitters
4 cups vodka

Combine sugar with one cup vodka and heat till dissolved. Add remaining ingredients and shake well.Just the right color. Pour 1/3 fake Jag with 2/3 Redbull and you tell me. One third the price and I like it. Hope you who try it do too! Close and easy enough when the real stuff isn't around"""
