I'm sure this topic is raised all the time...

The Brewhaus website lists the single 1500W element as good enough for the 8 gallon and 15 gallon stills (with 2" column).

Based on what I've read, a 1500W element is only good for a 5 gal still. Is this info correct? How long would a 1500W element take to heat a 15 gal still (if ever)?

Thanks.

While 1500W will definitely take a while to heat 15 gallons (roughly double that of 8 gallons), heat input roughly equals the speed of vapor production. A 2" column simply cannot handle a large rate of vapor input, so increasing the heat input will push the volume of vapor beyond what a 2" column can control.
