Hey guys, just out of curiosity, how long can I expect the heat up time to be on a 7.5 gallon SS still with propane? My current 3 gallon single electric burner takes about 50 minutes. Just wondering what to expect. Thanks!

Hi curtsat, I use the BH 8 gallon boiler with propane and run 5 or 6 gallons at a time. You need some head room in the boiler, normal load is 3/4 the size of your boiler. It takes me about 45 minutes for heat up time.

Like Scotty said there have been a few people that have melted their difuser plates useing gas burners. I also use my still to distill water which means I need to bring the temp up to at least 212 degrees. I run the burner hotter than usual for these runs and just check how the plate looks once in a while during heat up. Have'nt had any problems as of yet.
