"Anyone out there know much about the blichmann burner? currently using a turkey fryer which works but after the boil has started it gets real touchy when turning it down. Sometimes is goes out before it really gets down to where it need to be and it always burns very dirty when its low. The flame is yellow and everything gets sooty and really dirty. just wondering if the Blichmann is worth the money and whether or not it will solve my problem.

Also any advice on high pressure vs low pressure burners would be great!!!!!!!!!"

"Very nice burner, all stainless, burner is cast iron, very easy to maintain any heat setting and no soot. This picture is a very low setting.

Hi jkru, congrats on your purchase of a Blichmann. That's the one I use also and I have nothing but praise for it.

One thing I will mention is if you turn the flame up high enough to where the burner starts to get a lot of yellow flames and makeing noise then it's going to be too hot. Some people have melted their dispersion plates before they realized what was going on.

As Vapor1 said very adjustable, just takes a small learning curve. Oh yeah, when you make an adjustment wait about 3 to five minutes to see what it did before making another adjustment.

I also use the Blichmann burner. No complaints at all. Very happy with it.

Was thanked: 11 time(s) in 11 post(s)
Convinced me too.... Hotplate Takes TOO long to heat up a 15gal kettle w/13 gals - the 1500w stock outa the box takes a long while - Hell, I played thru two set lists waiting... Fingers were a fright afterwards! The hot plate just keeps cycling - 'nless ya disconnect the thermostat to stop the cycling-which, I ain' gonna do (Don't want to emulate any fertilizer plants here!!)

So, I sit and wait agin... *sigh* - Thank goodness wash will keep a week or so..
