Ok! Mr. Newbie here *pointing at self* just got his first carbon filtering kit.
I used to use a rather thick tube about arms length before hand to filter, and when I ordered the filtering kit I figured the entire think will be the size of my arm. And then came a box half my size ..
.
I need a few tip here if anyone out there can help.
The method I used ,tasting the trickle as it comes to determine alcohol content, diluted the alcohol quite a bit. If I started with a ~92% I ended up with around 60%.
I also read here that anything over 40% the carbon has trouble filtering.
What do I do if I need a good filtered high proof alcohol for maceration? Or wanted to cut down to 40% later on for makign Vodkas?

Also, after wetting the carbon, how long should I expect it would take to run a ~gallon through? Takes ages with my large tube.
