My still will be arriving soon and I've been reading everything all I can get my hands on, but haven't seen an answer to this question (probably my "male vision").. I'm thinking about the sacrificial run in particular - when doing that one, do I need to use a full 5-gallon mash amount or can I use less? Some people are using a 5-gallon run, but I've seen someplace where just a box of wine was used and that's approx. one gallon. Which is the best as it will all be thrown away anyway?

the box of wine should be fine . just make sure you have enough liquid in the pot to cover your heating element if that's what you are using

I don't have one with the heating element, so I should be good with the gallon then. (I don't like wasting anything, so the less wasted, the better) Thanks!! :)
