"Ok I have a homemade reflux still
15.5gal keg 2inch column packed double condenser coil top of colomn and a water jacket coming off to condense the alcohol. I do uncle jesses mash and use bakers yeast in a 5gal bucket and only distill one bucket at a time.
I get 3pints of 180 proof and 1 pint of 140 proof. Next pint is only 10% which is my starting mash abv.
Does this sound right? Looking at all the posts it seems like I should be getting more but I'm new and thought I would ask the experts.
Thank you"

OK - UJSM is a whiskey wash, sorry I asked the question, you shouldn't be stripping it. You only strip neutrals, UJSM is pot stilled only. I only make neutrals, but out of a 5 gal wash I would expect, theoretically, 1 gal of alcohol. So in reality I would expect say 1 1/2 gal of 65%.

I don't know what the final abv of UJSM should be - a sugar wash comes in around 20% abv.

Hi, a 10% 5 gallon wash will produce 2 quarts of alcohol at 100% if you are able to extract all of it from the mash, which is not possible.
The math is ; 20 quarts (5 gallons) X 10 % = 2 quarts.
You will never extract all of the alcohol from the mash with the type of stills we are useing.
I usually get around 5 to 6 pints at about 180 including heads and tails.

Bakers yeast won't yield over 14percent. Turbos will thought.
