I know LWTCS worked with Rad14701 on this recipe on HD (http://homedistiller.org/forum/...opic.php?f=11&t=8889).

Has anyone ever done this recipe here on this site?

I just started it last night but I cut the sugar a little and added half a 12oz jar of Blackstrap molasses. OSG was 1.0793. Pitched bakers yeast, areated for 1 hour with an aquarium pump. The stuff is going like a house afire!

No I dont even go to that un-named place since the yankees who run it treated me shabbily. I am a "snide bullshitter" according to them. They are currently on the cutoff list. I would not follow any of their recipes if it was me. I dont get bad vibes very frequently but they give me bad feelings over there. They are better than us..dont you see? They are special. They ride on the short bus.

(credit for this recipe goes to Rad14701 from HD.Org website. All I did was scale it up to 5 gallon batch size and added Beano and molasses. I am waiting for it to clear now, so I do not know if it tastes good or not.)


5 gallon batch

  • 4.35 gallons water
  • 7.5 lbs sugar
  • 18 four segment graham cracker wafers crushed
  • 5 tsp lemon juice
  • 1/2 a 12oz jar Blackstrap Molasses
  • 1 multivitamin
  • 1 Beano
  • 4 oz Fleischmann's bakers yeast (1 jar)
Rinse multivitamin & Beano under warm water and scrub off the dye coating with fingers and then drop them in a small glass of warm water (not hot) to dissolve.

Boil 11/2 gallons water with lemon juice. Pour over sugar and crushed graham crackers in fermenter. Mix in blackstrap molasses. Stir well to invert sugar.

Top with cool water to make 5 gallons total). Cool to 95°. Pour multivitamin & beano mixture in and stir. SG should be about 1.070 to 1.080.

Pitch yeast, aerate for 1 hour, cover and airlock.

Should clear in ~10 days.

I potstilled this Graham Cracker SMOP recipe today and got 2.5 liters at 49.8% ABV. Airing it out now for several days. Just smells like cheap tequila now (as BigWheel would say... Tongue).

Distill it twice in a pot still? A pot still is all I have.

Next time out of the chute try this. Do the same recipe but tweak it thusly: Ten pounds sugar and 1 Tablespoon Cosby Baker Distillers yeast. Nearly ghorontee that knock your proof up into an acceptable range on one trip through the pot still. Not that what you got now aint drinkable of course. If it dont stink too bad..I drink it..lol. Its way too much trouble to run it once..let alone twice.

Absolutely!!!!! I took my 120 to 165 and kept the backset for my next run. Like Big says it's a little more work but in my pot a run is only about 2.5 to 3 hours so for me thats a good little Saturday hooch drinking session whilst I watch'er drip. lol

Ahhh you breaking the old no drinking and smoking while hooch making rule here sounds like. Hope nobody forwards this little tidbit off to the Prez. Person could have OSHA knocking on the door some dark night maybe..lol.
