It has been brought up in other forums that rubber bungs produce off flavours does Brewhaus offer a wooden bung or am I making too much out of the rubber bung in my PSIIHC? Mine is green not a gum colored one. Do I need to carve me a wood plug with hole in it to put the termometer into, then how to seal that ..with flour paste?... Don't get me wrong I love this still works great for me just what the best product possible

The green bung is actually neoprene, which should not impart any taste or smell.

The tan colored bung is pure tan gum rubber. It is highly chemical resistant and will not impart any smell or taste.

Clear flexible tubing is generally PVC. This is not highly tolerant to many chemicals which is why we use the opaque (chemical tolerant) tubing for anything other than cooling water.

You can take a stainless 3/8" fitting and weld it to the top then get a kitchen faucet rubber washer to go into the fitting, slide the ss fitting nut up on the thermometer stem and slide through the washer. then tighten the nut just firm enough to seal the stem inside the ss fitting. works very very well. If it ever begins to leak, just tighten the nut about 1/4 turn. Best solution I have come up with .
