"Many years ago my father would make a drink that was simply called homebrew. It was made from blue ribbon malt, sugar, water, and fleshmans yeast.
What I don't remember is what quantity of each and if there were other ingredients.
Many of the older men had their own receipe for this stuff so I'm quiet sure there were variations to the mix.
I,m out of work on a medical leave and going nuts just sitting arround,I need something to break up the boredom.
If I remember this stuff was pretty good and I think it would distill without any problem.
Any help with the spicifics would be welcome, Old Stump Juicer"

Well I can't believe no one has any input here, but I've found what I was looking for outside the forum, Glenn

"It is how i found this forum. Can i suggest some books ""how to brew"" by John Palmer and ""new complete joy of homebrewing"" by charlie papazian.

I think you will find the quality of ingredients out there for making beer is far superior to the ""old stuff"""
