"Greetings all!
I would like to whip up a batch of wheat vodka for my wife (wink wink) and I was wondering if anyone out there can recommend a good cereal mashing technic for raw wheat.
Any advice is greatly appreciated."

"Im almost done fermenting a wheat vodka wash, but I used the flaked wheat that Brewhaus sells, they have a link on their web site that has a pdf file on a step by step method of making a wheat vodka and it's pretty easy. I'll be doing my stripping run this weekend on it.

I will definitely try this recipe for my next batch.
By eliminating a cereal mash, the flaked wheat will be a ginormous time (and mess) saver on infusion day.

What yeast would you recomend for a really neutral product?
Would you ferment on the grains or from clear runnings? (I have a 5 gal mash tun that I use for beer that would work pretty slick for this).

Any field-to-flask tips out there for a using raw wheat for a future batch?
I come from a farming comunity so that's what is more readily available (and the price can't be beat).

"It does save a some time, and it smells great when it's up to temp and the malt is added.
I used the professional vodka yeast with AG yeast that Brewhaus sells, it's got all the nutrients you need.
I fermented with the grains and stirred the wash once every day for 4 days. I then strained out the grains and let the wash settle for a few days in my frementer before I raked it again. It's clearing really nice and should be ready for the stripping run Friday.
From what I've read about using raw wheat, you have to crush it pretty fine and cook it at a higher temp. I'm sure the more expierence people out there can answer your question better on that.
