yes you can I would recommend using Welches which will work grate but I haven't tried the generic kinds its all about trial and error I would make them in smaller batches and try and see what kind you like the best its really about your taste I would use a wine yeast but you could use black label just don't forget to add sugar lol...............just experiment have fun and hope this is some helpful info for ya
