Jeb, I have been experimenting over the last 2 months with various recipes. If I could make a suggestion, buy the book 'Making Pure Corn Whiskey'. It will be the best $25 bucks you ever spent. I have been displeased with my yield thus far. For about 8-9 gallons of mash, I've been getting about .5 gallons of sauce. I think my issue is with the conversion of the starch to sugar. My iodine test tells me I need a better or different malted barley to convert it. I think I'm leaving some of my yield on the table. I've tried both corn-meal and flaked corn. The flaked corn sure is a hell of a lot easier!!! I've been trying to fill a 5 gallon charred barrel for awhile now. At .5 gallons a run, it will take me until next January - Gheezz!!
