I forget where I enev got this but was wondering if anyone has ever tried this or if it would even work. I would have to scale it down alot but wasnt sure if it would even work or not without the yeast.

sorry it never put it on. this sorry

25 pounds coarse ground white corn meal, enough to fill half of your barrel/container
50 pounds of sugar - 1 pound of sugar per gallon of water of total volume
1 gallon of malt - can be corn, barley, rye or a combination.
Boil the water, cook in the cornmeal and allow to cool to touch. Add sugar and malt and stir in well. Leave for a day and come back. The mix should be bubbling on top, stir one last time and then leave it.

25 # cornmeal will require 5# of malted grains to convert the starch into sugar and it will not happen at those temps
2# sugar to 1 gal water makes a good recipe if you add some nutrients for the yeast.
(cornflakes have lots of nutrients yeast can use and cheap. I prefer wheat germ, also on cereal isle at supermarket )

your recipe, your just using cornmeal for flavor. 1 # per 5 gal is good enough for that.
