I have two, use one for a drain. The drain works real nice when needing hot backset or when draining after running a 10 gallon wash.

If its a 15 gallon one definitely 2- I have only one on my 8 gallon and the idea of a drain sounds good on any size

I have a 2" ferrule in my 15Gal BH kettle - I use a Hillbilly adapter that mounts a wh element in a 2" piece of stainless - works like a hose. 2" tri-clamp & gasket.

No problem Scotty, your comments on having a drain are the same way I feel about it. I went ahead and put a pipe to hose adapter on the valve so I could screw a water hose on it and drain it out in the yard if I need to. Just have to let it cool off first, yard can't handle that much hot wash :)

Did you get a valve installed on a 2" tri- clamp end cap, or what did you use and where can I find one . I've been looking...
Thanks Captinjack

I found this:

http://www.brewershardwa...over-X-1-2-Male-NPT.html

And used a 1/2" ss ball valve.

With the large openings on the premium rigs one can install himself if you missed the opportunity to have it done before shipping.
