"Hi, I'm going to try my hand at makeing Absinthe but am haveing a hard time finding a source for Grand Wormwood Plants. I did find one place selling the plant for $5.00 but the shipping was more than $10.00, too much. I can find everthing else except that. I found the dried herb available and a source for seeds but not live plants. I may end up ordering seeds unless someone knows where to get the plants.
Any help is appreciated.

Thanks I was hiking up the sides of Mt. Rubidoux in Riverside, California and saw some native wormwood. The leaves of the plant looked just like those pictured here: [ATTACH=CONFIG]781[/ATTACH]  wikpedia says it is A. absinthium. Looking at Calflora, A. absinthium is a non-native wormwood, but there are several other wormwoods that live and grow in my neck of the woods. Depending where you live, there might be another wormwood that you can use. This is purely speculation on my part if you can substitute one wormwood plant species for another. Perhaps you can check with your local nursery or better yet, contact a local college/university botany department and just ask. Good luck."

Hi Clark, Thanks for the info. I'm useing The Artimisia Absinthium in the distillation phase and the Roman Absinthium in the steeping phase after distillation.
I finally broke down and just bought some seeds to plant. I'm hopeing to get enough to harvest this year for a small test run made from 5 gallons of wine I had given to me for this purpose.
