"WELCHES FROZEN GRAPE JUICE MOONSHINE BRANDY

10 cans (11.5 oz) Welches 100% frozen grape concentrate
7 Lbs granulated sugar
water to make 5 gallons
wine or distillers yeast

Bring 5 quarts of water to boil and dissolve the sugar in the water. Remove from heat and add frozen concentrate. Add additional water to make five gallons and pour into secondary. Add remaining ingredients except yeast. Cover with cloth fastened with rubber band and set aside 12 hours. after cooling to proper yeast temperature, add activated yeast and recover with cloth. Ferment 30 days..

Siphoned it off this evening...tastes good! didnt check the potential alcohol before but now it is reading 8%.? Should I do anything else? or just drink it?"

It looks to me like you were trying to make a wine that could be distilled to get a brandy. Where did this recipe come from please????
Yeast used???
if you are getting a potential alcohol of 8 % it sounds like it didnt ferment at all.the sg sounds like a suger laden liquid. Am i missing something???

It has a sg of 1.060. I was wondering if the recipe was intended to distill or drink as is

wv,

That didn't finish.

Based on what I could gather, my calculations say your OG should have been around 1.110? ... which puts your PA just under 17% ... so you're pushing the limits of some of the most alcohol tolerant yeasts. If your PA is currently at 8% you would have around 9% in there right now ... with a lot of sugar left. I'm going to guess that it was intended to drink as is given the amount of sugar that's left.

Give it some more time, if your SG doesn't drop in a few days I'd say your fermentation is stuck. Doing the math is underrated. :) Next time you might want to use a lot less sugar to keep your OG around 1.080 (or lower).
