I am by no means an expert so lets see if I got this right so far; stainless is amazing for the durability and cleaning, copper is the best for scrubbing the less than special aftertastes out of your batches so to the best of my deductive reasoning abilities, Your best bet or bang for the buck will be to use Stainless steal Boilers, the towers can be either copper or stainless, but always use the Copper scrubber materials for the tower because it makes for a cleaner tasting beverage than, rings or marbles?

Thanks for the info BW, another question here, I see a few folks are using pipe insulation on there Reflux / towers all the way up to there condenser or over to it which ever there style, anyhoo , is that strictly for the purpose of keeping the ethanol in a gas form until it reaches the coils at the condenser: or just to keep em from burning the crap outta themselves? I am in the process of building a valved refluxer using 2 1/2 copper for the tower and condenser, with a coil of 3/8 OD copper on the outside at the very top and a 22 inch coil on the inside of the condenser tube dropping down into the section where the reflux valves are located and runs back over to the main tower, from there it reduces down again to a 1/2" jacketed by a 1 1/2" copper tube to cool down more yet before the parrot. N such I planned on just purchasing the copper scrubber material for the tower from Mile-H or something of that nature.. I am also building it with the sanitary fittins and Tri-clamps on the Tower so I have the option of running a Pot-still if so inclined..Oh and by the way Copper is anything but free... BigGrin
