"I've heard in several posts that you have to dilute the distillate from the 1st run before doing your second run. On other websites (referring to the same type of system) I've heard that you simply put your 1st runnings back through the EZstill a second time to increase the alcohol. Why do people recommend distilling the runnings before reprocessing? Is there a fire hazard from the EZ still if one runs the 1st runnings (50% alcohol) back through it to produce a second batch closer to 80% alcohol?

-Thanks"

"I don't think its a fire hazard. I think the reason to dilute it is so the temperature doesn't rise too fast. That way you can collect as much good liquor as possible before the tails (chemicals that make it taste bad) start coming through.
What I do is dilute it with more wash. That way I can collect a higher proof product without loosing too much volume."
